Beschreibung

Borage is an annual herb of the rough-leaf family. The hairy and rough leaves taste and smell like cucumber, so it is also called cucumber herb. The blue flowers taste nutty and are great as an edible garnish. Bees also like the plant very much. Borage grows up to 1 m high and is self-seeding. Thus, it spreads more and more in the garden over the years.

Anbautipps

Borage is sensitive to drought and cold. Young and soft leaves can be harvested continuously and used as a salad addition. Older leaves are hard and rough and not very edible. Borage develops a strong taproot and therefore loosens the soil. The seeds can be harvested for replanting.
