Growing tips

Marigold is sown directly or grown in plant pots. It is a light germinator, so you should only cover the seeds thinly with soil. As it is sensitive to the cold, you should only sow or plant it in the bed after the Ice Saints. Pinching out withered flowers encourages the growth of new flower stems. The roots emit toxins that reduce nematode infestation of neighboring crops. The plants are also well suited as green manure.
