Description

Winter-hardy leafy vegetable. Use like lamb's lettuce, but finer in flavor. Can be cut several times during the winter in protected cultivation. Seed is very fine, so ensure even distribution when sowing. Needs below 12 °C at night for germination. Postelein, also called purslane in some regions, is a vitamin-rich alternative to lamb's lettuce. Tastes excellent fresh as a salad, but can also be prepared like spinach. In soups or on buttered bread, it is a delicious change in winter.
