The Rocket seed was the fastest growing of all early potatoes when it was launched. The ability to grow large quantities of uniform round tubers has made it very popular and it has been regarded as one of the better exhibition potatoes. Rocket is a good potato for container or bag growing. However it is grown, it is recommended to uproot it before full maturity to avoid bursting of the tubers. It has good disease resistance to blackleg, scab and sporulation. The main culinary uses are early cooking and salads. This seed is a first early variety that is harvested as soon as it is large enough and used fresh or stored for a short time. Produces round, white-fleshed and skinned tubers with flat eyes.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Choose a suitable day between mid-March and mid-April that is dry and frost-free. If you are growing in beds, lightly rake the prepared soil into a workable layer. Then dig a trench about 10 cm deep and place the seed potatoes 30 cm apart. Make sure that the potatoes are placed with the pink end facing upwards. This is the end with the most sprouts. Once the potatoes are in the trench, cover them with soil and press them down lightly. A light layer of potato fertilizer can be applied to the top of the trench. Watering the trenches is not necessary at this stage, but may become necessary in the following months if the weather is warm and dry.
