Old variety. In the 1930 a popular food variety in Scotland. Bred on the island of Arran by Donald Mackelvie. Purple skin, whitish flesh and tastes slightly of chestnuts. Floury in cooking. Late variety. Round, slightly misshapen tubers. Robust, high yielding, and stores well. Good for roasted potatoes and mashed potatoes. Approx. 150 - 170 days of ripening.
