Very old, small-seeded pearl bean with round, fleshy, curved, green pods. Typical of this group of varieties are the seeds that appear early in the pod (like pearls on a string, hence the name). Because of these seeds, the variety tastes different from the usual beans. Classic recipe for the Turkish peas is pears, beans and bacon.
