By now, the #HerbFortress’s mini-pond has a total of 3 frogs living in it… now I’m just worried they’ll all freeze to death if they really try to hibernate in there 😰 It’s just a plain old 90-liter mortar bucket buried in the ground, and last winter we had some really freezing cold weather for quite a while, so it froze through (almost?) completely… Would a passive ice-prevention system help in this case? Honestly, an active electric one would be too expensive for me (and most likely way too big) for this little project… or could I maybe use breathable insulation to buffer out that little bit of cold?! Please help—I don’t want to end up with frog sorbet in the spring 🙈
