I just have to show you my “new” flower bed, because I’m so proud of it!
The old flower bed was extended by a meter.
Plus, there used to be wooden planks there that barely lasted three or four years.
That’s why I decided on a frame made of lawn edging stones, and what can I say—I did it all by myself, making multiple trips by car to pick up the stones (I loaded, unloaded, and laid over 750 kg of stones in total). I dug everything out myself, worked the soil, and removed all the root weeds (that was three full wheelbarrows!). I had to take the frame apart and rebuild it several times because something wasn’t quite right.
My father-in-law was kind enough to help me drill the stones because I was afraid one might crack.
The snail fence was then installed yesterday.
The edging still needs to be done; there’s about 5 meters left to lay.
But so far, so good 😍
I’m happy and hope the frame lasts for many years and that the snails stay away. I was able to discover and remove more than 10 snail nests during my renovation work. Now I just need to catch the snails in the bed so they don’t multiply too much.
I started last fall. Here are some pictures of the process ☺️

Wow, ganz tolle Arbeit!
