Well... I'm curious to see how this turns out. I finally put an idea from last year into action and turned an old wire basket into a sort of raised garden bed. I hope it can help the mountain mint growing next to it with some moisture, the hedgehogs with a few extra insects and worms, and us with some pretty flowers and food. I’m assuming the soil will settle quite a bit yet, and next year the gaps between the bamboo sticks and the wire mesh will be filled in. Then I’d like to have something in there that climbs out of the mesh itself and is topped off at the top with a pretty perennial that grows upright. For now, though, I’ve planted three nasturtiums, a few marigolds, orange cosmos, and a monthly strawberry. With a little luck, the nasturtiums will draw some of the aphids away from the cherry tree. I’m curious to see how it goes.
