Root knot nematodes

How to get rid of nematodes

Root knot nematodes are members of the nematode family. The females live in roots, and by releasing toxins when they feed, the roots swell into a ball around the nematode - called root galls.

Treatment

It is difficult to clearly identify the damage. Signs may include slow growth, wilting or even death of the (young) plant. Planting calendula and marigolds will help prevent this. In case of infestation, water the soil around the affected plants with marigold or calendula broth.
