Nematodes
How to combat nematodes
Nematodes (<12 mm/0.5 in) live in moist environments such as garden soil. Their penetration, especially into the roots (also leaves and stems), disrupts the water and nutrient supply to the plants. Deformities and death are the result. The damage is diverse, just like the types of pest. Root cyst nematodes, for example, form small cysts on the roots (see picture).
Treatment
Planting calendula and marigolds is effective against root nematodes. In case of infestation, watering the affected plants with Tagetes decoction helps.
