Description

The cherimoya is considered the most palatable member of the genus Annona. However, some other species have locally greater importance than the Cherimoya. Besides the genus Annona, there are interesting representatives of the genus Rollinia and Asimina in the family.

Growing tips

The large, black seeds found in the fruit are suitable for growing. In specialty fruit stores and sometimes in supermarkets, the fruits are available. One uses sandy, lean soil and buries the seeds at a depth of about 2cm. Germination occurs at 20-25°C, usually within 3 weeks. However, it can take up to half a year for them to germinate.
