What an extraordinary summer and fall! It’s early October, and the tomatoes are still growing; the Brazilian velvet peach is already touching the greenhouse roof; the eggplants are still going strong, as is the sugar melon; and the Charantais is still bearing fruit. At the same time, pumpkins, kale, and Szechuan pepper are growing. I have a question about the latter. Can I harvest the pepper now, or do I have to wait until the seed pods burst open?
