I was finally able to plant my pre-sprouted potatoes. I filled some mortar tubs with a drainage layer of expanded clay and about 15 cm of compost. I planted the potatoes in the soil, added the remaining leeks, and mulched them thickly with last year’s hay. It’s an experiment. I hope the hay doesn’t get moldy and that the potatoes develop well in it. If it collapses, I’ll add more hay on top. Since I have another bale of hay, I’ll make a small hollow in it, fill it with some composted soil, and plant two potatoes there. Maybe it’ll work? I’m curious to see 💚
