Conical, deep orange, with 12 - 16 cm rather short carrot (Chantenay type) with rounded tips and good interior coloration. Aromatic, slightly tart flavor. Medium-early, old, traditional, French variety. Insensitive to diseases and pests and withstands prolonged cold periods with proper cover. In addition, it can be eaten with the skin. Produces tender "baby carrots" when harvested early. Also called 'Chantenay Red Core' or 'Chantenay À Coeur Rouge 2'.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Germination in 14-40 days at 10-18°C. Avoid areas with fresh organic fertilizer because of carrot fly. Sow very thinly, which saves thinning later. It is best to mix the seed with a handful of sand and scatter it in rows. Always keep well moist. Carrots like sandy, well-drained soil. Do not fertilize too much, otherwise the carrots will develop a lot of small hair roots. Development time of 130-140 days. Do not grow umbellifers on the same area more often than every 4 years.
