Also 'Gelbe Pfälzer': Old variety of original golden yellow color with very intense carrot flavor. Strong, long, cylindrical root (about 25cm) with good shelf life. The foliage is strong and healthy. Use fresh. Excellent in sauces and stews. Sometimes also called 'Pfälzer Lobbericher'.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Sowing for fresh consumption March to May, harvest mid-June to August. Sowing for storage carrots June to early July, harvest mid-September to October. Sow sufficiently early, but not too densely; separate if necessary. Germination period 12-20 days at 5-20°C. Loosen soil well and water regularly. Mounding helps against carrot fly. Good neighbors in mixed culture are dill, barley, cress, corn, leek, radish, lettuce, marigold and onion.
