Red Giant 2 are good storage carrots, but also versatile. Late, high-yielding, time-tested, well-colored red variety with large conical shape and smooth skin. Up to 6cm in diameter. Germination after 20-30 days at 10-25°C/50-77°F. There are also producers who indicate a harvest as early as July or as late as November. Particularly suitable for storage or freezing for winter stock (until March).
Non hybrid
Sow thinly, 0.5-1 cm/0.2-0.4 in deep in rows 30 cm/11.8 in apart, cover with soil and keep moist. Germination period 14-28 days at 10-25°C/50-77°F. Mound against greenheading until carrots finish. Do not use manure and do not sow on freshly fertilized soil. Even watering is important for germination and to prevent bursting. Singling may be necessary. Crop protection netting will keep out pests such as carrot fly. Keep weed-free.
