Katrin carrot variety is a fast-growing, orange and early variety with relatively short (11-13 cm long, or longer depending on the time of harvest), conical carrots with blunt ends and without green shoulders. Chantenay species.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Germination in 4-14 days at 8-14°C. Sow very thinly, which saves thinning later. It is best to mix the seed with a handful of sand and scatter in rows. Always keep well moist. Carrots like sandy, well-drained soil. Do not fertilize too much or the carrots will develop lots of small hairy roots. The first roots can be harvested in bunches as early as May, the last in August. Carrot "Katrin" can also be sown late in autumn (November - October) for spring harvest under covers.
