Description

Sage tastes intensely spicy and slightly bitter. It is considered anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antispasmodic, antiperspirant, slightly antihypertensive and blood purifying. Perennial. The leaves are also suitable dried as a tea. Insect friendly.

Growing tips

Light germinator. Germination after 14-25 days at 18-24°C. In case of early sowing from April, protect with fleece if necessary. In case of preplanting, harden off before planting out (from May). Prune in late fall or spring. Soil rich in clay and lime and a sheltered location are advantageous. Harvest before flowering. In the 1st year only the shoot tips. Protect from frost in winter. Sensitive to waterlogging. In the 1st year harvest from August.
