A jewel from Italy! Mezzo Lungo forms tender-skinned, deliciously sweet cucumbers. The flesh is tinted yellow-green. The skin is quite smooth, without the spines typical of cucumbers. The cucumbers grow to 10cm long. They have the qualities of a large salad cucumber, but the size of a typical outdoor cucumber. A mini-salad cucumber, or better yet, a noble snack cucumber. The variety had all but disappeared, but was brought back to life by an Italian biodiversity conservation project. Originally it comes from the municipality of Polignano on the sea in the south of Italy. The plants did not show any conspicuousness with regard to special warmth requirement, they grew in the open field with us. At the beginning of summer the first cucumbers were ripe, so it is a medium-early variety. The more you eat, the more fruits are back. You can not help it, you just have to like them.
