Description

The "Monika" variety is suitable for greenhouse, tunnel and outdoor cultivation. The cucumber develops its best flavor at a length of 10-12 cm and can be eaten as a snack vegetable. The flowers are purely female and do not require pollination (parthenocarpic). Beautiful, cylindrical, regularly shaped fruit that still tastes good even at 20 cm long. Crunchy, delicious flesh is hidden under coarse, dark green skin with few thorns. Thanks to their excellent flavor, "Monika" cucumbers can be eaten raw, in sandwiches and salads. They can also be frozen and pickled, especially at short notice.

Non hybrid

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

Germination period: 6-14 days, germination temperature: 15-22 °C. As cucumbers are quite sensitive to the cold, you should only plant them out after the Ice Saints. They also need a lot of warmth during growth and a constant supply of water is also necessary. Stress conditions such as temperature fluctuations, lack of water or frequent touching lead to the formation of bitter substances. A cultivation break of 3-4 years should be observed. Cucumbers must be able to hold on, as they form long tendrils (2-4 m). Harvesting is possible when the skin is evenly colored. Regular harvesting increases the yield as more new flowers are formed.
