Description

French variety sold in the markets of Paris. The 'Cornichon de Paris' cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is an early variety that is particularly recommended as a pickling cucumber (gherkins). The fruits are characterized by an exceptionally regular size and shape. Short, cylindrical fruits covered with a bright green skin decorated with a few warts look great in jars. It is worth mentioning that these cucumbers do not turn yellow in jars. For pickles, harvest at about 3-5 cm long, pickle larger ones in brine. Is a 100% female flowering variety and gives seedless fruit when grown in isolation.

Non hybrid

Not frost resistant

Growing tips

As cucumbers are quite sensitive to the cold, you should only plant them out after the Ice Saints. They also need a lot of warmth during growth and a constant supply of water is also necessary. Stress conditions such as temperature fluctuations, lack of water or frequent touching lead to the formation of bitter substances. A cultivation break of 3-4 years should be observed. Cucumbers must be able to hold on, as they form long tendrils (2-4 m). Regular harvesting increases the yield as more new flowers are formed.
