The variety 'Kaiserin Viktoria' is a dark-leaved, rich-flowering plant with red flowers and is suitable for flower beds and compost heaps, for window boxes, troughs and hanging baskets. In organic cultivation, it is very popular as an aphid trap plant under fruit trees and berry bushes.
Non hybrid
Sow on the spot from April to May, cover with soil twice the size of the seed, press down and keep moist. Watch out for earth fleas when young. The flower buds are suitable for making capers, and young leaves can be eaten like lettuce.
