Beschreibung

Asian salads include a number of leafy vegetables that originate from the Asian region and belong to the leafy and mustard cabbage species and varieties. They belong to the cruciferous family. They are related to radishes and arugula and are characterized by a high content of mustard oils, which makes them pungent similar to arugula. Also, by a high frost tolerance and a long harvest time. They can be sown continuously and are ready for harvest after 3 weeks (in summer). In winter, the growth takes 8-9 weeks. They are treated like cut lettuce. Asian lettuce can be eaten raw or cooked. Sowing is done in a wide cube.

Anbautipps

The culture of Asian lettuce is uncomplicated and can be done on balcony boxes. Usually it is sown in our country between March and September, but in a greenhouse or a foil tunnel it can be cultivated all year round. In summer it should not be sown in too hot temperatures. Loosening the soil and keeping it evenly moist will prevent soil fleas. Asian lettuce can tolerate temperatures as low as -10°C. Do not cut the lettuce too deep when harvesting, then it will grow back a few more times.
