This sweetcorn is an annual, light- and heat-loving crop from the sweet grass family. The Black Aztek variety has grey seeds when it is ready for consumption; when they mature, they are completely black in color. Corn can be used as a windbreak for sensitive plants.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Corn can be sown directly into the bed or grown as seedlings in pots. It is very sensitive to frost, i.e. it can only be sown or planted in the bed after the Ice Saints. Corn also loves sun and warmth, so look for a sunny spot in the garden. It is pollinated by the wind, which means you should cultivate several plants next to each other to guarantee optimal pollination. By mounding up soil around the stems, you increase the stability of the plants. This allows them to develop supporting roots with which they can hold on.
