Historic variety from 1845. The fiery red maize with large cobs is medium-late maturing. In the milk ripening stage, the cobs are so sweet that they can be eaten like sweetcorn. Mature cobs are also very beautiful as an autumn decoration. Incidentally, it also makes fantastic flour corn for tortillas. Harvesting for consumption: eat young, when the kernels are still soft, fresh, boiled or grilled for a hearty corn taste; process mature, hard and well-dried kernels into flour.
