Quender (Thymus serpyllum), like thyme, is a perennial, frost-resistant plant. The growth is creeping, so that Quendel forms regular carpets. Compared to thyme, the plant does not lignify as much and grows to a maximum calf height of about 10 to 15 cm. Despite the rather creeping growth Quendel is a semi-shrub. The leaves of quender are somewhat smaller compared to garden thyme. The leaf shape can be described as lanceolate. The leaf length reaches a maximum of 1.5 centimeters. In addition, the leaves of wild thyme feel smooth and have a strong green color, while the true thyme has more of a silvery green foliage.
