Brussels sprouts Trafalgar F1 is a very reliable variety for the late mid-season (mid-November to mid-January). It produces many medium-sized, sweet and crunchy sprouts that do not taste bitter. Trafalgar F1 Brussels sprouts are large but robust and have been bred in the UK, making them very hardy and well suited to our climate. Brussels sprouts can be harvested in small quantities as required, or the top "leaf head" can be cut off in one go in October so that the sprouts are usually ripe by Christmas. A catch crop can be sown under the sprouts, e.g. fast-growing salad leaves or Swiss chard. An excellent choice for Christmas sprouts. Good disease resistance.
F1 Hybrid
Frostproof
Suitable for all types of soil, preferably not too heavily composted. Too rich nitrogen thinning gives loose rose charcoal. Sow under glass or in the field on seedbed and plant out later. Keep the soil moist. Protect young plants against cabbage flies with insect netting.
