A bright orange flesh tomato from New Zealand. Earl of Edgecombe fruits weigh about 250g and are the size of a small apple. The tomatoes are very fleshy, have few seeds and are mildly acidic in taste. The eye-catching color makes them suitable for a whole range of dishes. Orange tomato soups, ketchup and sauces are especially beautiful. The plant reaches a height of 1.80 m/2 yd and has a medium yield. Like all tomatoes, this variety is heat-loving and wants a warm location protected from rain. A tomato house is ideal. (From Garden Red).
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
The seeds germinate at temperatures around 20°C/69°F within 10 to 14 days, after another 5 to 7 days the small plants can be pricked out. The temperature at this time should be between 16 and 24°C/61-75°F. Tomatoes need a location as bright as possible, e.g. on the windowsill or in the greenhouse, but they do not like direct sun.
