This wonderfully sweet-fruited, aromatic beef tomato has flat-round more or less strongly ribbed fruits. They have a thin skin and soft, juicy flesh. The typical coloration is orange-red with yellow marbling, both on the skin and inside. They are relatively few, but large fruits with average weight of 200-300g, sometimes up to 450g. It ripens very late, so protected cultivation is recommended. Best grown outdoors with a canopy, but also in a greenhouse. Grow to about 2 m/2.2 yd tall. Due to their delicious, fruity aroma with little acidity, pineapple tomatoes are particularly suitable for fresh consumption, dressed with mozzarella, basil and a little salt and pepper.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
The plants grow best outdoors under a canopy, but can also be in a greenhouse. They grow to a height of about 2 m/2.2 yd. Tomatoes need warm temperatures for germination between 20-25°C/68-77°F. After germination, place in a cooler place (max. 20°C/68°F). Sowing before March may result in lack of light and poorer plant growth. When pricking out, set deeper to the cotyledons so that the plants can form new roots. Harden off before planting out. Fertilize regularly and water evenly. Should be thinned out. Especially tie or fix the main shoot, otherwise it could break off due to the heavy fruits. A location protected from rain is advantageous.
