`Di Sicilia Violetto` is a special variety with its purple color. Forms vigorous, fast-growing plants. Early cultivation possible due to good cold tolerance. Planting possible until summer for late harvests. Strong taste. Germination after 4-7 days at 10-15°C. Planting and harvesting very variable from summer - winter depending on the grower.

After germination, thin out or prick out. Plant out best at the end of March/April or 5 weeks after sowing. For beautiful white heads, protect with the leaves (possibly tie up). For overwintering: Sowing from mid/late August to early September. The bed should be as cool as possible, shaded if necessary; in October for protected overwintering in a cold frame or greenhouse; protect from pests: Co-planting of rue or sage, establishment of beneficial insects (ichneumon wasp, songbirds), alternatively: cabbage collar, insect protection nets with mesh size 0.8 mm.
