Description

annual; The variety name 'Bonner Advent' already suggests that this savoy cabbage is not an early but a late winter savoy cabbage variety. It is sown only from June or August and harvested after overwintering in May - not in Advent. May savoy forms beautiful large heads with green curly leaves and promises really high yields. The old variety 'Bonner Advent' was grown especially in the foothills, the region around Cologne and Bonn, and is the only cultivated variety of the so-called Bonner Advent vegetable still available today, which was often planted out in the field only in November which, with its harvest in May, served as a spring herald for the new garden year. Along with many other cabbage and savoy cabbage varieties, it was therefore traditionally enjoyed as a classic winter vegetable and vitamin C supplier towards the end of the cold season.
