Midnight Sun kale has frilly, red-colored leaves with a neon pink center vein that make an eye-catching and tasty addition to salads and stir-fries. Pick the young leaves or harvest the mature leaves in the winter months.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
March-May, 0.5cm deep in pots with seed compost. Keep moist and warm, a temperature of approx. 15°C is ideal. As soon as the plants are large enough, transplant them into other pots 5 cm apart. Harden off gradually and plant out at a distance of 45 cm or plant outdoors from April to September 1.5 cm deep in finely prepared soil. Keep moist. Thinning is not necessary if only the young leaves are required. Thin out to 45 cm for mature plants. Regular sowing every 2-3 weeks ensures a continuous supply. Keep well watered.
