Candy Floss kale is extremely attractive and has versatile leaves. Great cooked or for baby salad leaves. Excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin A.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Sow thinly outdoors in a seedbed, 1.5 cm deep directly into finely prepared, moist soil. Leave 45 cm space between the rows. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Thin out to 45 cm spacing. Thinning is not necessary if only young leaves are required. Keep moist. Regular sowing every two to three weeks ensures a continuous supply. Harvest the young leaves from June or sow indoors, 0.5 cm deep in a tray of compost. Keep warm and moist, a temperature of approx. 15°C is ideal. When the plants are large enough, transplant them into other trays 5 cm apart. Gradually acclimatize the young plants to outdoor conditions (avoid frost) before planting them out 45 cm apart. Mature plants can then be harvested from September to March.
