Other names: Goat's kale, Lippe palm, Lippe brown cabbage The leaves are curly, reddish-blue and frost-hardy. Unlike many types of kale, this variety does not need the frost to break down bitter substances. It tastes mild even before this.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
From summer to fall, the lower leaves can be harvested for small livestock. Rare variety that is only used commercially by one farmer in Lippe (eastern part of East Westphalia-Lippe in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia). Strong, aromatic flavor, tastes best with the accompanying Lippe cabbage sausage.
