Broccoli de Cicco is a traditional Italian variety with tender green heads. This variety is relatively fast-growing and high-yielding and produces relatively small heads that are well protected by the leaves. Many side shoots grow once the central head (8-10cm) has been harvested. Also known as spear broccoli or sprouting broccoli or asparagus cabbage. It has a compact growth habit and reaches a height of 60 cm. Spring and fall cultivation.
Non hybrid
Frostproof
Germination in 7-12 days at 15-18°C. Sow in March-April or in July for harvesting the following spring or shortly before flowering (late fall to spring). Prefers humusy, calcareous, deep, slightly heavier soil in a sunny location. An even supply of water and nutrients during growth is important. When planting seedlings, the soil should be moist and you should water the seedlings well. You can cut off the closed inflorescences with an approx. 10 cm long stalk. Broccoli can be harvested well into the winter as it can withstand sub-zero temperatures. However, the plants will still be happy if you cover them with fleece.
