Late-shooting cut lettuce/pluck lettuce 'Salad Bowl' with a long harvest period can be planted both in the garden and on the balcony. This oakleaf lettuce produces large, relatively loose heads and heavily crowded bushes. However, it can just as easily be harvested as baby leaf lettuce, which is why it can be sown in containers. The leaves look particularly appetizing due to their wavy structure and green color, are tender and tasty and grow back within two to three weeks.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
You gradually pick the outer individual leaves as the plant continues to grow out of the lettuce heart. Germination at 16-22°C about 5 -8 days. Sowing can be done from March to August. Already 4-5 weeks after sowing the first harvest takes place. In total, the harvesting period is from May to September. This lettuce can be used as pluck lettuce or head lettuce. Picking lettuces can be grown from spring to autumn and, like other lettuces, require sufficient moisture. However, they have slightly higher nutrient requirements compared to head lettuce. When plants are closely spaced, the interior of the plant bleaches and turns yellow. These parts of the head of lettuce taste particularly tender. Since pickling lettuces form a taproot, the seedlings should not be pre-cultivated.
