The healthy antioxidant anthocyanin gives this colorful 'Little Gem' lettuce its vibrant color. Flavorful, deep purple leaves surround a bright red heart with a distinct crunchiness that makes 'Intred' lettuce a worthy addition to summer salads. This tasty romaine lettuce has a compact and upright habit and stays in good condition without withering. Height and width: 20cm.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Sow the lettuce seeds directly outdoors from March to August in well-prepared, fertile, moist soil in sun or partial shade. Sow the seeds thinly at a depth of 1 cm in drills 30 cm apart in finely raked soil. When the seedlings are large enough, thin them out to 30 cm apart and cover them with a protective net or fleece to prevent attack by birds and insects. Sow regularly to ensure a constant supply. Water the lettuce frequently and hoe regularly between the plants to prevent the emergence of weeds. Dry weather can cause the lettuce heads to bolt, so watering in the 2 weeks before harvest is particularly important. A thick layer of mulch around the plants will help retain moisture in the soil. Harvest the lettuce as needed by pulling out the entire plant and cutting off the stalk with a knife.
