Large, medium-firm, late-shooting heads with a yellow-green color and a red tinge. For harvesting in spring, summer and fall with good head formation. Very safe to grow. Popular due to its very attractive, distinctive appearance and excellent taste. It remains crisp and fresh even when stored in the fridge for several days. Robust against downy mildew. Also suitable for baby leaf cultivation.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Iceberg lettuce can be sown directly or grown in advance. Only lightly cover the seeds (light germinators). In very warm weather, place the sowing tray in a cool place for approx. 10 hours immediately after sowing, as germination may be inhibited if temperatures are too high. The following applies to all lettuces: at temperatures above 20 °C, the seeds do not germinate or only germinate slowly. The planting depth is also important: plants planted too deep will not thrive properly. If the lettuce shoots, this is always a stress reaction: too hot, too dry or planted too close together.
