Romaine lettuce originates from the Mediterranean region and is therefore heat-resistant, forming slender heads with a well-filled, crisp, yellow heart. The Gohar variety is particularly suitable for the production of lettuce hearts. The hearts of lettuce are a real treat for the palate because they taste very mild - almost sweet. The appetizing green outer leaves protect the lettuce heart from sunlight and thus prevent the formation of bitter substances inside. This variety is bolt-resistant and resistant to internal blight, downy mildew BI 1 - 27 and Salamosaic virus (LMV).
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Germination: 6-10 days at 16-20°C soil temperature. Sow from the beginning of March to mid-May in a warm room or greenhouse, from the end of May (frost-free) to mid-July directly outdoors. Sow seeds shallowly and cover thinly with sieved soil. Keep constantly moist. Row spacing 30 cm, in the row approx. 15 cm. Spread out if necessary. Gardener's tip: Romaine lettuce requires little space in the garden and is suitable for small gardens, raised beds and even balcony boxes and containers.
