Description
This salad delight from the Mediterranean region is characterized by narrow heads and crisp, upright, delicate leaves. The heads are appetizingly red on the outside and turn a bright, fresh green towards the middle of the leaf. They stay fresh and pleasantly crispy for a surprisingly long time, both in the fridge and when served with dressings or salt, pepper, oil and balsamic vinegar. The so-called salad hearts, i.e. the juicy inner leaves that have a pleasantly nutty taste, are particularly popular.
