The old monastery and cottage garden flower, also known as the elf's slipper or God's hat, has been cultivated in European gardens since the Middle Ages. Columbine is considered a plant of humility and love. Due to the symbolism of the Trinity attributed to it, it can also be found on numerous medieval panel paintings.
F1 Hybrid
Frostproof
Sow the very fine seeds indoors in seed trays from March. Press the seeds down lightly, do not cover them or only cover them thinly (light germinators), place them in a bright place and keep them moist. After four weeks, prick out in pots and plant out in loose groups 25 cm apart from July. Direct sowing is possible from April to May, later it will be too warm for the seed. Adding sand increases the grip when sowing. Columbine germinates very irregularly, in approx. 14-21 days at 17-22 degrees.
