Description

Daffodils belong to the family of amaryllis (Amaryllidaceae). They grow between 5-80 cm tall, are perennial and have their flowering very early. One of the best known species is the daffodil. Winter hardy. There are 30-40 species, but about 24,000 cultivated forms. The flowers are white, yellow and orange.

Growing tips

Loosen the soil, plant with the tops up. Store in a dry and cool place until planting. Do not allow the soil to dry out after planting. Site requirements Depending on species and variety. The sap of the plant is poisonous and can cause skin irritations, so it is best to wear gloves when handling - especially when dividing the bulbs. A few species also bloom in autumn and winter. Fertilize in spring. Propagation via daughter bulbs.
