Hurst Green Shaft is an exceptional variety that produces long, pointed pods in pairs containing up to 10 peas of excellent flavor. This variety has good disease resistance and grows to a height of approx. 60 cm.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Sow the peas directly outdoors from March to June as soon as the soil has warmed up. Choose a weed-free location in moist, fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Sow the seeds in shallow drills 5 cm apart and 4 cm deep. Leave a space of 75 cm between the rows. For subsequent crops, sow peas every 10 days. Support the pea plants with twigs, wire or netting as they grow, and use fine netting to protect the pea plants from birds and pea moths. When growing peas, regular and thorough watering, especially during the flowering period, will improve yields. Harvest peas about 14 weeks after sowing, when the pods are swollen. Regular picking promotes further cultivation.
