This chili originated in Barbados and got its name thanks to the resemblance of the pods to a bishop's mitre. The plants develop quite large leaves and reach a considerable size. Typical for the species Capsicum baccatum is also the late branching with the development of a crown. The plants are very robust and can be cultivated for several years with proper care and overwintering facilities. The thick-fleshed and very aromatic fruits ripen from green to red. There are distinct differences in pungency between the wings and the interior. The aroma is sweet and sour with a hint of paprika and a mild spiciness. They are suitable for eating fresh in salads, filling with cream cheese, grilling and pickling.
