The variety was named after the city of Anaheim in California, but originally comes from New Mexico. Therefore, it also belongs to the variety family New Mexican (Numex) and is its best known representative. The plants grow bushy, can reach 1.20 meters tall and are high-yielding. They have large, elongated and thick-fleshed pods that remain green for a long time, but later ripen to red. They have a mild, aromatic pungency. Eaten fresh with a piece of bread, grilled or stuffed with cream cheese and baked, no matter how you prepare Anaheim, you won't forget their incomparable flavor. In New Mexico, they are often processed green (e.g. as chiles rellenos), first grilled and skinned, which gives them their very characteristic aroma. (spiciness level 1-3)
