Sigaretta Biondo' belongs to the Lombardo type, an old Italian pepper variety with mildly spicy fruit that is suitable for both fresh consumption and pickling. They also taste excellent stuffed with cheese, grilled, in Mediterranean salads and antipasti. The variety ripens red (here it tastes slightly sweeter), but is mainly harvested and processed green.
Non hybrid
Not frost resistant
Sow in warm trays with potting compost or coconut pellets, only cover shallowly with soil. Plant out at the end of May 60 cm apart in the open ground or in sufficiently large containers. Lombardo loves sunny, sheltered spots with deep, loose, nutrient-rich soil. Peppers like it warm and moist, not wet. Germination: 15-30 days at 22-25° C.
