The NuMex Big Jim chilli is a new variety (from 1975) from New Mexico State University and has an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest chilli variety in the world. The plants grow bushy and, compared to their very large fruits, remain relatively small at 60 - 90 cm. The chilies are slightly hot and ripen to red. The largest pods measured were over 35 cm long, but are usually around 20 - 25 cm. They are fleshy and aromatic and are suitable for fresh consumption, in salads, as a snack, for stuffing, grilling and cooking. Spiciness level 2-3
