The DG Black King chilli is the result of various crosses between sweet and medium-hot peppers. As a basis, the Black Prince was crossed several times to turn roundish chilies into pointed little horns. Sweet varieties were also crossed in order to achieve a very mild heat. The result is one of the most beautiful chilli plants ever, with black stems, fruits and fruit bases. Only when fully ripe do the chillies take on a black and red veined coloration, the fruit attachment to the stem then turns green. The flowers are not white, as with most chilies, but purple. The DG Black King chilli has a very mild taste with a fruity-sweet note. The fruits can be eaten raw without causing extreme burning in the mouth. The fruits are up to 6 cm long and finger-thick.
