Jalapeño is a very productive, thick-fleshed chili. The fruits are about 7 cm long and up to 3 cm thick and have a rounded tip and ripen from dark green to a bright red. The ripe fruits have elongated corking, which is considered a sign of quality. The fruits are best eaten fresh both green and red. Fruity-pleasant pungency.
